Players MBA develop skills and figure out how to break up games that aren’t going so well, IBA chief executive Igor Kocharyan said, commenting on the Muscovites’ victory over “Zenith” in the first match of the VTB United League quarter-final series.
On Saturday, MBA St. Petersburg beat Zenit in the first game of the series with a score of 65:61.
– Of course, emotions overwhelm. The first match of the United League qualifiers for our club, and immediately a victory over the defending champions. It’s good that the guys believe in the work we do, that it leads to a result. When there are tense matches, and there’s no stage fright, and there’s a clear understanding of what needs to be done and how to break up games that aren’t even going very well, that pleases. The guys are growing up. Each of them individually and, accordingly, the team as a whole grows. This is the first victory – moving forward.
– It turns out that the home court advantage goes to the MBA.
– Well, it’s hard to talk about home advantage or away site advantage. Yes, of course there are fans at home, but here Zenit had great support, and that also stimulates our guys. So basically we are preparing. Now that we have taken the first step, we will try to take the second,” Kocharyan told a correspondent.
The next meeting will take place on April 3 in Saint Petersburg. The streak will last up to three wins.
