As noted, the 28-year-old basketball player will likely decline to use the option to extend the deal for a season with a $36.4 million salary. Instead, he’ll likely decide to sign a new five-year, $248 million deal.
Beal was selected third overall by the Washington Capitals in the 2012 draft. In 10 seasons, he played in 645 regular season games, averaging 22.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game. He missed part of last season due to injury.
