President of the VTB United League Sergei Kushchenko told that the league was in a situation of disqualification of the striker CSKA Nikita Kurbanov fulfills all requirements of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA ).
Earlier, RUSADA reported that Kurbanov was suspended for three months for cocaine use. Last October, the CSKA captain announced the suspension of his sporting career “for personal reasons”. The 37-year-old striker’s suspension ended on January 19, and on February 11, Kurbanov played his first match after the suspension.
— How does the recent story with Nikita Kurbanov affect the league’s image? Did you talk to the basketball player about it?
— We only have official information here which falls within the information domain. The League meets the conditions required by RUSADA. Everything else concerns only the athlete, and for obvious reasons we comply with official requirements,” Kushchenko told .
Kurbanov is a seven-time winner of the VTB United League, the striker won the Euroleague three times as a member of CSKA.
