Perasovich’s agent: “Only a wild force majeure could prevent Velimir from continuing his cooperation with UNICS”

Agent Stanislav Ryzhov, representing the interests of the head coach UNICS Velimir Perasovic said that only force majeure could prevent the Croatian specialist from continuing to collaborate with the Kazan club.

On Tuesday, UNICS announced the extension of the agreement with Perasovich. The new contract of the 59-year-old Croatian specialist runs until the end of the 2024/25 season. Perasovich has been leading the Kazan team since the summer of 2021.

— How long did it take you to conclude a new contract with UNICS?

— In fact, the paradox is that there were no negotiations. The parties immediately expressed a desire to continue cooperation. Perasovic was operated on and limped badly, but there was no question of leaving the team in the middle of the season. Therefore, Velimir lasted until the summer. Let other clubs not be offended, but UNICS is definitely the best team in terms of team atmosphere. And everyone knows it. Perasovich fits so naturally into this team that there is no doubt that the coach and the club suit each other on both sides. It was obvious to everyone that under Velimir, UNICS had achieved simply phenomenal results.

— Was there an option in which Velimir would not stay in Russia?

“Only a force majeure event could prevent the continuation of his cooperation with UNICS. From a professional point of view, a super offer from a Spanish Euroleague club could force Perasovich to consider other options besides UNICS,” Ryzhov told .

Last season, UNICS won silver in the VTB United League, losing to CSKA Moscow in the final with a score of 1–4. At the end of the season, Perasovic was recognized as the best coach in the league.

In the 2022/23 season, UNICS, under the leadership of Perasovich, became the champion of the VTB United League for the first time in history.
