BC Samara President on Kardanakhishvili’s Transition: “A Good Decision for the Years to Come”

Defender Anton Kardanakhishvili is a promising young basketball player who will be very useful in “Samara” Signing a contract with him is a good decision for the years to come, club president Kamo Poghosyan told .

On Friday, Samara announced the signing of a contract with 22-year-old defender Kardanakhishvili. The deal was concluded according to the “2+1” scheme. In the 2022/23 season, the basketball player has already played on loan for Samara.

— There were rumors that Samara would rent Kardanakhishvili again, however, you signed a full-fledged contract with the basketball player. How would you comment?

— He is a young player who has already played for our club. And he has played for us on average almost 18 minutes per game. It is a pity that later, next season [после выступления за «Самару»] he had little playing time. Now he will have the opportunity to become more in demand and more useful.

It was not interesting to loan a player for an additional season. I said that if only there was a player with whom we could sign a multi-year contract. That is what we managed to do.

— Does signing a contract according to the “2+1” scheme indicate great confidence in the basketball player?

“The head coach also participated here and communicated with him personally. If from the management side… You understand that there are not many promising young Russian players now. Even more – there are few of them. So signing a contract with Anton is a good decision for the coming years. It is clear,” Pogosyan told .

Kardanakhishvili graduated from CSKA school. Last season, the defender of the military team became the champion of the VTB United League.
