American defender Melo Trimble explained why he decided to extend the contract with Moscow CSKA despite the presence of offers from other teams.
— I had offers from other teams, but I knew that I wanted to return to CSKA immediately. We have one of the best coaches I have ever played with. He is probably my favorite coach. So I knew that there was no other team that I would rather go to. I wanted to come back here because of the coach, the players and the organization. The choice was obvious. In my opinion, I had no other options. I was just waiting for someone to offer me.
CSKA is currently the highest level team of my career. So it’s time to stick around. We just became champions. Given the situation with the coach and the way they treat me here, I couldn’t say no. Everything was too good not to come back,” Trimble told Championship.
Trimble has been playing for CSKA since the summer of 2023. Last season, he became the team’s most productive player and was also recognized as the MVP of the VTB United League playoff stage.
The new United League season begins on September 21.
