Former Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose has decided to end his playing career.
“In this new chapter of my life, I will pursue my dreams and share my personal growth. I want to show the world who I am outside of basketball. Everyone can tell a story about what could have happened differently in their life. But I wouldn’t change anything in mine, because I have found true happiness,” journalist Shams Charania said, quoting Rose’s statement.
Chicago drafted Rose first overall in 2008. With the Bulls, he reached the Eastern Conference Finals in 2011 and won the MVP award in the 2010–11 season. As a member of the U.S. national team, the basketball player became a two-time world champion (2010, 2014).
During his career, the basketball player also played for the New York Knicks, Minnesota, Cleveland, Detroit and Memphis.
