At the start of the Champions League qualification, the Kyiv club beat Norrköpping
Budivelnik head coach Valery Plekhanov commented on the team’s victory in first round of Basketball Champions League qualification.
“I am happy with this victory. It was the first official game of the new season, and we have a new team, a new squad, I’m happy. We had some mistakes, especially in the first quarter, but I hope that before the next match we will correct them and improve our basketball.”
“The next opponent is much more serious. Another level. It was only the first step, we need not one victory, but three. But we have been seriously preparing for over a month.”
Budivelnik defeated Norrköpping in the first round as part of the Champions League qualification – 87:51.
In the next stage, the rival of the Kyiv club will be the German Bamberg. The second round match will take place on September 23.
If Bamberg passes, Budivelnik’s possible rival will be one of the trio: Benfica (Portugal), Keravnos (Cyprus), Golden Eagle (Kosovo).
If Budivelnik advances to the group stage of the Champions League, he will fall into Group F, where he will play against the French Limoges, the Latvian Riga and the Spanish Manresa.
