Why did the Celtics suspend coach Ime Udoka for a year?

The Boston coach, an NBA finalist in his first season in charge of the team, violated team rule protocol and they decided to punish him.

“The Boston Celtics announced that the team has suspended head coach Ime Udoka for the 2022-2023 season for violating team rules. A decision on his future will be made at a later date. The coach, who entered into an intimate and consensual relationship with a staff member, apologized in a statement: “I want to apologize to our players, the fans, the entire Celtics organization and my family for letting them down. I’m sorry I put the team in this difficult situation, and I accept the team’s decision. Out of respect for all involved, I will make no further comments.”

The team will be in charge assistant coach Joe Mazzulla, 34 years old. After the departure of Will Hardynow coach of the Utah Jazz, the young Mazzulla will have the opportunity to face an NBA season as Head Coach after his training in various NCAA Div. II teams.
