The fight between Berinchik and Mendy will take place on December 3 in London
Egor GolubWBO International Lightweight Champion Coach Denis Berinchyk (16-0, 9 KOs), commented on the preparation of the Ukrainian for unification fight against EBU title holder French Ivana Mendy (47-5-1, 22 KOs).
“The training as a whole is going well, thank God, there are no injuries. We train according to the schedule. We are in Montenegro, where the weather conditions are different from ours, the first three weeks were very warm. Now the weather is changing, rain, thunderstorms. But we have already done all the main work. We can say that we have reached the finish line in the training process.”
“The opponent is experienced, he has a lot of battles behind him, so we tune in for all 12 rounds. Of course, if there is an opportunity to finish the fight earlier, we will do it.”
“Among our sparring partners are professional boxers and top athletes from the Ukrainian Olympic team. One of them is world champion Yuri Zakhareev. We selected fighters similar in anthropometry, repeating the movements of our opponent. Sometimes even I have to spar with Denis.”
“Our goal is to bring a new title to Ukraine – the EBU European Champion and move on to the world title.”
The fight will take place on December 3 in London. The duel between Berinchyk and Mendy will take place on the undercard of the meeting between WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and Derek Chisora.
Recall that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, Berinchik was in the ranks of the territorial defense. The 34-year-old Ukrainian last fought in December 2021, when he defeated Russian Isa Chaniev by unanimous decision.
