Wallin: Joshua’s team didn’t contact me personally, but there were talks between promoters

The Swede believes he deserved to fight the best boxers in the division

Swedish heavyweight Otto Wallin said that the representatives of the ex-world champion Anthony Joshua contacted his team, discussing a potential fight.

“They haven’t contacted me personally, but I know between Eddie [Хирном] and Dmitry [Салитой], my promoter, were negotiating. I don’t know if there are any combat updates. I hope it will. I would really like this fight. I still think Joshua is one of the best in the division and he has a really big name. A win over Anthony would really promote my name and take me to new heights. I think I deserve this fight.”

“I fought Fury, I gave him a really good fight and then I beat Travis Kaufman and Dominic Breazeale. Then I took a couple of fights to keep fit. It’s been a little frustrating at times, but I think these big fights are ahead and I know I’m ready for it. I just hope I get the fights I deserve.”

“I still think Joshua is one of the best in the division, but he may have lost a bit of confidence. There is a big load on Anthony’s shoulders, I think that this manifested itself after the Usyk fight, ”said Wallin.

In August, Joshua lost by split decision to Ukrainian boxer, WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

AJ wants to enter the ring in his next fight with Dillian Whyte. The fight could take place if White wins over Jermain Franklin.

Anthony has been in talks with WBC champion Tyson Fury for a fight in late 2022. However, the parties could not agree on the final details of the contract, after which Joshua postponed his return to the ring until next year.
