Devin wants to fight before or right after Ramadan
Head of promotional company Top Rank Bob Arum stated that the fight between the ex-world champion in three weight categories Vasily Lomachenko and undisputed world lightweight champion Devin Haney almost ready, and it remains to agree on the exact date and place of the fight. The main condition of the American is not to fight during the holy month of Ramadan (from March 22 to April 20).
“This fight is, in fact, ready. We are looking for a location and a date and this will be announced soon. I had lunch with Devin and his father Bill Haney and they are both ready.”
“They are nice people. This fight will take place either before or immediately after Ramadan. Because Devin is a religious Muslim, and therefore we cannot arrange it during Ramadan, but we can do it before or after. So I talked it over with Haney, they’re ready to fight.”
Lomachenko defeated American Jemaine Ortiz in his last fight. For the Ukrainian, this was the first fight in the last 10 months.
In October, Haney defeated George Kambosos again and retained the WBC, WBA Super, IBF and WBO lightweight titles. Devin has repeatedly stated his readiness to face Lomachenko in the ring.
