The absolute world champion in lightweight commented on the future fight with the Ukrainian
Undisputed World Lightweight Champion Devin Haney commented on the upcoming fight with the former champion in three weight categories Vasily Lomachenko.
“Lomachenko is a good fighter and a future candidate for the Hall of Fame. I’m not taking anything away from him or what he did in boxing. Although he didn’t give me a chance when I challenged him in 2019, I won’t be petty. This is a fight that the fans really want and I made it possible.”
“I have improved twice since the rematch with Kambosos, and believe it or not, the better my opponent, the better I perform. I can’t wait for this fight. I know Lomachenko has an extremely high boxing IQ and on May 20th I will show the world that I am the best fighter on the planet and I am ready to defend my undisputed title in a devastating way.”
The fight for the title of absolute world champion in lightweight between Lomachenko and Haney will take place on May 20. The evening of boxing will take place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Lomachenko defeated American Jemaine Ortiz in his last fight. For the Ukrainian, this was the first and only fight for 10 months.
Last October, Haney defeated George Kambosos again to retain the WBC, WBA Super, IBF and WBO lightweight titles.
