Former World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) world champion Amir Khan suspended for two years for an anti-doping rule violation, according to the UK Anti-Doping Agency (UKAD) website.
The 36-year-old boxer’s doping test, taken on February 19, 2022 after the fight with Kell Brook, came back positive for the banned substance ostarine. Khan agreed with the allegations, but argued that the consumption of ostarine was unintentional. The case was forwarded to the National Anti-Doping Commission for review by an independent tribunal.
In February, the court imposed a two-year disqualification on the boxer and overturned the result of the fight with Brook. Khan’s suspension runs from April 6, 2022 and will expire on April 5, 2024.
Khan is the silver medalist of the Athens Olympics in the weight category up to 60 kg. Khan has 34 wins (21 by knockout) with six losses in the professional ring.
