“Don’t take these tolerances seriously. Nobody will go anywhere like before ”- Guberniev on the admission of Russian wrestlers to international competitions

commentator Dmitry Guberniev said that Russian wrestlers will not go to international competitions, despite their admission from United World Wrestling (UWW).

Previously, the UWW allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions, subject to the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Do not take these tolerances seriously. Nobody is going anywhere. Admitted? Bravo, we will not participate in the contest. We have wrestlers – military personnel, National Guard, etc. … No one will go anywhere, Guberniev told .

On Tuesday, Natalya Yarygina, vice president and member of the UWW executive committee, told that a commission had been set up within United World Wrestling (UWW) which would draw up criteria for the admission of Russians to the Olympic qualifying competitions within 10 days. It also became known that junior wrestlers are immediately allowed in all international tournaments under the auspices of UWW without any restrictions.

On March 28, the IOC announced recommendations on the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions. Recommendations include individual clearance, status neutrality, banning team sports, and banning athletes associated with security forces or who have expressed support for the CWO. A decision on the Paris 2024 Olympics will be taken “at the appropriate time”, said the IOC.
