MMA veteran Jeff Monson told that he handed over his US passport to the embassy on Tuesday and now only has Russian citizenship.
Previously, Monson had asked to participate in elections to the parliament of Bashkortostan. Prior to this, he had signaled that he was renouncing US citizenship due to US policy.

Since September 2018, Monson has been a member of the Krasnogorsk District Council of Deputies of the United Russia Party.
The athlete had previously received Russian citizenship.
