Teofimo Lopez Sr: Haney’s victory is a shame for boxing. This is a disgrace to Lomachenko and Ukraine

The father of the former world champion believes that Vasily was sued in a fight with Devin

Teofimo Lopez Sr.father and trainer of former world lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez, criticized the result of the fight between Devin Haney And Vasily Lomachenko. He also supported the Ukrainian people.

“The victory of this kid is a shame for boxing. It’s a dishonor to Lomachenko and Ukraine, because Ukraine has an undisputed champion, but they took this shit from him. This country has suffered enough already. And they were not given even one fucking night, one opportunity to be great in this world, to be happy, even for an hour to celebrate victory without bombing. They see their people being bombed, being torn to f***ing pieces. It was a moment to give them hope,” Lopez Sr. said.

“As for me, Ukrainians are very strong people. Every day they accept everything with gratitude. We don’t see it. We take everything for granted when we wake up, “Oh, we didn’t get that, we didn’t get that. I have to pay my bills.” These people live in fear every day because their loved ones may die. Thank God we don’t go through this.”

Lomachenko lost to Haney for the title of undisputed world lightweight champion. According to the results of 12 rounds, the judges gave the victory to the American boxer: 116:112, 115:113, 115:113.

The sports community spoke out about the unfair decision of the judiciary. At the same time, WBC President Mauricio Suleiman supported the decision of the judges, pointing out that the fight was very close on points.

Lomachenko fought his 20th fight in the professional ring and suffered his third defeat in his career. Undefeated Haney won his 30th fight and defended the undisputed lightweight title of the world champion.

Egis Klimas, the manager of the Ukrainian boxer, sent letters to the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO asking him to appoint the Ukrainian as a mandatory contender for the lightweight belts owned by Haney.
