IBA is convinced that it meets the criteria for participation in the Olympic Movement

The International Boxing Association (IBA) said it was confident it met the necessary criteria for recognition by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and also called on IOC members to make a “correct and balanced decision” regarding the Olympic future of boxing.

Earlier, the IOC extended the suspension of the IBA. The boxing tournament at the 2024 Games in Paris, as well as at the Tokyo Olympics, will be organized by the IOC itself. At the same time, boxing is currently not on the program for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Earlier it was reported that the IOC Executive Board will consider the IBA’s report on Wednesday on meeting the criteria necessary for the association to be restored to its rights.

— The IBA firmly believes that it meets all the criteria necessary to participate in the Olympic Movement, including good governance, finance and sporting transparency. The report highlights all the reforms carried out over the past two years and explains the reasons for each change in the organization. The IBA is looking forward to seeing boxing at the Paris Olympics in 2024.

“We are extremely proud of all the steps taken to build the organization we have today,” said IBA Secretary General and CEO George Yerolimpos. “Years of hard work have paid off and the IBA is a role model for international sports federations. Today, for full transparency, we publish our report, because we have nothing to hide. We sincerely hope that the IOC has fully read the 400 page document in order to make a correct and informed decision regarding the future of boxing.
