Russian mixed style fighter Vladimir Mineev said that while serving in the NVO area, he felt how his athletic skills were being lost.
On May 17, Mineev reported that he had arrived in Saransk, having received leave from the NVO zone on the occasion of the imminent birth of his daughter. At the moment, the athlete and his wife Ekaterina are raising their son Mikhail.
– I asked Ramazan Ismailov how your uniform will change during the service. He replied: “It is clear that this does not make an athlete better. But, probably, Vladimir will rest psychologically, and mentally will become stronger. And how would you describe the change in condition of an athlete as he serves?
– Of course, there is no time for training and not for compliance with the diet. In any case, it will take a long time to restore the previous form. It does not affect the athlete in the best way.
– We saw each other at the very beginning of your dismissal. Have you ever fought during this period?
– Yes.
– Strongly the skills are lost? Is it felt?
– Yes of course. It takes four or five days to lose the sense of distance. Naturally, there is a lot of experience and a great foundation has been laid, but all the same, everything still needs to be taken up again, conducting training camps, fitness, muscular condition. All this takes time,” reports in the words of Mineev.
Mineev holds the AMC Fight Nights Middleweight Championship belt. Mineev held his last MMA fight in October 2021, defeating Magomed Ismailov by technical knockout. In 2022, the fighter has fought under kickboxing rules twice, beating Erko Jun and Fernando Rodriguez.
