Mauricio Suleiman has commented on criticism from WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol.
Mauricio Suleiman reiterated that his organization will not allow a fight by a Russian boxer while the war in Ukraine continues.
So, he responded to criticism from WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol.
According to the president of the WBC, he has no personal claim against Bivol, he was just a victim of the actions of the Kremlin authorities.
“Currently, we cannot allow the fight that Bivol will participate in. Every time someone asks about this, it hurts me, because I have many Russian friends, many fighters, coaches, judges and members of the Board of Directors represent Russia .
Our position is not personal, and we are sorry if this offends someone. In this case, it affects Bivol because he is Russian, but there is nothing against him personally. We are a sanctioning body that fights for peace, for justice instead of abuse of power, against discrimination and aggression. It is unfortunate that Bivol is a victim of the situation, but he cannot control it,” said Suleiman in a comment to Izquierdazo Boxeo.
It will be remembered that the previous Bivol focused on the fact that Artur Beterbiev was also Russian, but he was allowed to box.
