The British boxer’s promoter is asking for a review of the referee’s decision in the title fight.
Daniel Dubois and his team filed an appeal against the result of the title fight against Oleksandr Usyk. This was announced by the promoter of British boxer Frank Warren.
According to the functionary, he did not consider the referee’s decision in the match in Wroclaw, Poland correct. Dubois’ representatives hope to get at least an immediate reprieve by appealing.
“Today we have filed an appeal. We have completed the work here, and now the WBA will start the appeal process in accordance with its rules. They have to consider it. I want them to do the right thing. I think, in worst case they announce a rematch.
I believe the sanctioning bodies will want to sort things out themselves. There was no reason to delay the rematch, as the last fight was under WBA rules, and it was agreed upon. If their rules include a rematch, I’m sure it will happen,” Warren said in a comment to Seconds Out.
It can be remembered that the WBA has already made a decision regarding the outcome of the Usyk-Dubois fight.
