Warren: Dubois could box further, his legs didn’t fail. I just don’t get it

The promoter of the British boxer criticizes the decision of the referee not to continue the fight against Usyk and is already looking forward to a rematch

Frank WarrenBritish heavyweight promoter Daniel Duboisexpressed his opinion regarding the decision of the referee to stop the fight for the WBA / WBO / IBF / IBO heavyweight titles and recognize Oleksandr Usyk’s victory by technical knockout.

“When the referee stopped the fight, Dubois fell after a very strong jab, which he ran into. Daniel was on the canvas, the referee opened the score, he got up and waited for the go-ahead. Dubois could box further, he did not lie flat on the floor of the ring, his legs did not give up. I just don’t understand it.”

“We are unhappy with this situation. I think that Usyk, in the end, perhaps, is also dissatisfied with this, although he does not admit it. We just want them to get back in the ring.”

“By the way, if they have another fight, then Dubois needs to fight differently. He needs to grit his teeth and go out there to fight. That’s what he must do. This will be a test of his character. I don’t want excuses, I don’t want to hear this nonsense anymore. Get out there and do it – that’s the point. But coming back, Dubois won the fight and it was a bad decision.”

Today, Warren said that, as previously stated, his team filed an appeal to reconsider the outcome of the Usyk-Dubois fight, which was judged in the ring by Puerto Rican representative Luis Pabon. The promoter is optimistic and believes that “in the worst case” revenge is inevitable.

Usyk challenged WBC champion Tyson Fury for his next fight. Representatives of Alexander and the “Gypsy King” are negotiating a unification fight in early 2024.

Filip Hrgovic also claims to fight with Usyk. The Croatian is the mandatory contender for the IBF title.
