After the Nigerian’s defeat at UFC 293, Anderson Silva used social media to provoke Adesanya; post was edited shortly after
The Brazilian Anderson Silva manifested itself after the defeat of Israel Adesanyaon the main card of UFC 293. In a post on social media, the former Ultimate champion fired at the Nigerian and asked his former rival not to make any more comparisons between them.
I’m the one in charge of this shit here, and you won’t open your mouth again to compare yourself to me in this shit. You understood? I’m the one in charge of this shit here”, wrote Spider after the victory of Sean Stricklandnew owner of the middleweight belt.
Spider, however, didn’t take long to edit the publication’s caption and replace the provocation towards Adesanya with a series of skull and hawk emojis. The Brazilian published a video about his career, with the text: “They will never be, they will never be”.
The comparison between the two has been marked by UFC fans and analysts since the Nigerian defeated Anderson Silva in February 2019, especially when Adesanya won the middleweight belt.
Spider ended his time in the UFC with several records in the middleweight division. Anderson Silva is the fighter with the most title defenses in the division’s history, with ten fights – consecutive – to maintain the title.
The Brazilian’s reign is 2457 days. He has accumulated the most submissions (9), knockouts (7) and most knockdowns (10) in title fights in UFC history. No one is ahead of the Brazilian in the number of victories in middleweight title fights: 11. The Nigerian has five title defenses and eight victories in the category, behind only the Brazilian in this regard.
