The unification fight in the heavyweight division will take place in December 2023 or January 2024
Famous promoter Eddie Hearn spoke about the announcement of a unification fight in heavyweight between WBC title holder Tyson Fury and WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO world champion Alexander Usik.
“It’s incredible. I hope the fight takes place. I believe they will fight. I believe that wherever Fury is offered a huge amount of money, he will take the fight,” Hearn said.
“In an interview, Bob Arum said that Fury would make a hundred million dollars, and then quickly doubled that amount. But I’m sure Fury will get a lot of money. We know approximately the amount because it was discussed earlier, and you heard these conversations. It will be a lot of money. And this is a great fight for the heavyweight division. I hope it happens.”
“I don’t know when this will happen. My gut says it will happen in January, but we need to look at December 23rd because we have Chris Eubank vs. Conor Benn scheduled for that date as well. I think it’s great for boxing.”
Usyk and Fury have signed a contract to fight for the undisputed heavyweight title. It was reported that the fight is planned to take place on December 23 or January 2024 in Saudi Arabia.
It is expected that the date of the Usyk-Fury fight will be officially announced after Tyson’s fight with Francis Ngannou, which will take place on October 28 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
