Former cruiserweight world champion Denis Lebedev believes that Tim Tszyu will face the toughest opponents of his career in the upcoming fights.
On Sunday night, Tszyu defeated American Brian Mendoza by unanimous decision in Sydney to defend his WBO junior middleweight title for the first time.
– Believe me, Tszyu’s brightest rivals are ahead. Yes, I wouldn’t even say they gave him “bags” before. Everything in its time. It is just reaching its rated capacity. I would even say that Tszyu Jr. is in a bit of a hurry. But the opportunity presented itself to win a second belt. Why not use it? It’s every boxer’s dream. Of course, everyone is looking forward to the fight with Jermell Charlo. I am sure that Timofey will do everything to unify the titles,” Lebedev was quoted as saying by RT.
Tim Tszyu is the son of former absolute junior welterweight champion Konstantin Tszyu. The 28-year-old boxer has 24 victories in the professional ring (17 by KO). Tim Tszyu has spent all but one fight in Australia. For Mendoza, 29, this defeat is the third of his career; he also has 22 victories (16 by KO).
