UFC Champion Islam Makhachev explained why his father won’t be coming to the UFC 294 tournament in the United Arab Emirates.
On October 21, Makhachev will defend his UFC lightweight championship belt at a tournament in Abu Dhabi in a fight against Alex Volkanovski. This fight will be Makhachev’s second consecutive fight against an Australian athlete. The first fight ended with Makhachev winning by unanimous decision.
— We see many people close to Khabib Nurmagomedov at the tournament. Did any of your loved ones come?
– My brothers have arrived. But my elders, my father, my uncles did not come to this fight. I myself ask them not to come, because if the seniors come, we absolutely have to devote time to them, and the week of the fight, we almost have no time for that, so I generally ask them not to come,” said Match. The television correspondent reports Makhachev’s words at a press conference before the tournament.
