Promoter wants to organize big lightweight fights
Famous promoter Bob Arum said he would like to see the WBA lightweight champion Gervon Davis in the ring against their clients – Vasily Lomachenko, Shakur Stevenson And Teofimo Lopez.
“Davis is a great fighter and gets a lot of attention. Of course, we’d like to put Stevenson, Lomachenko and Lopez together with Davis and see how well they do. I think all three would beat Davis. I really believe that… But that’s why they organize the fights, right? Again, we are open to anything. Davis is a tremendous athlete and boxer, as are Stevenson, Lomachenko and Lopez.”
“This could probably happen where everything is happening now – in Saudi Arabia. They may decide to fight after Ramadan this summer and cut payouts to boxers. And this will end any discussions about who should receive what interest.”
Arum previously said that Lomachenko will fight George Kambosos for the vacant IBF lightweight championship in April 2024 in Australia. According to preliminary data, the fight is scheduled for April 14, 2024 and will take place in Perth.
In 2023, Davis scored two victories, defending the WBA lightweight title for the fourth and fifth time. His victims were Dominican Hector Garcia and American Ryan Garcia. At the end of the year, Gervonta converted to Islam and received the name Abdul Wahid.
