Athletistic / Boxing. Russian boxer Artur Beterbiev spoke of the “strange” result of his doping test carried out before his fight with Briton Callum Smith.
“I have learned that Callum Smith is going to spread misleading information about my WADA testing program before my fight. Let me be clear. I am a clean athlete. I have never tested positive in my entire career amateur and professional. doping test and have always complied with all WADA requirements and protocols, including in preparation for this fight. Any attempt to prove otherwise is slander. Such behavior goes beyond gossip unacceptable in combat sports. Smith is already looking for excuses, “We are looking for a way out of this situation. See you Saturday,” journalist Kevin Iole said, quoting Beterbiev’s statement on his website.
Note that an additional examination gave negative results to Artur Beterbiev’s doping control.
In July 2023, the fight between Beterbiev and Callum Smith was postponed. This fight was scheduled to take place on August 19. The 38-year-old Russian boxer was diagnosed with a bone infection in his jaw, forcing doctors to carry out surgery. In January 2023, Arthur won by technical knockout against Briton Anthony Yarde and retained three light heavyweight championship belts. In total, the Russian has 19 victories in 19 fights. Beterbiev has won all of his fights by knockout.
