Bogachuk: I think there will be a fight with Fundora, but not this year. I have a title, I need to make several defenses with the guys from the WBC rating

Sergey understands that boxing is a business, so promoters need to properly promote his confrontation with Sebastian

Interim WBC junior middleweight champion Sergei Bogachuk shared plans for the future. The Ukrainian believes that in the near future his confrontation with Sebestian Fundorathe new holder of the full WBC junior middleweight belt, is unlikely.

“I think there will be a fight with Fundora, but not this year. His team has slightly different plans, and I already have a serious title, so I think we will make a few defenses, promote our duel more, and then they will build us up a little later. This is my opinion, given that I see what is happening around.”

Immediately after the fight with Tszyu, Spence got into the ring before Fundora, I don’t understand why he did it. Maybe they are preparing a battle with him? Or, perhaps, there will be a rematch with Tszyu, in fact, he’s definitely not in the mood for me right now. And I have no time for it, because, I repeat, I have a title, and we will now promote it, I need to have several fights with the guys ranked in the WBC.”

“Boxing is, first and foremost, a business, the promoter will look at when this fight will be more interesting and when it is better to do it. Perhaps we will need to wait and make it later, so that it will be on television and the money will be ok.”

Let us remind you that Bogachuk confidently defeated American Brian Mendoza in a fight that took place at the end of March in Las Vegas. At the end of 12 rounds, all judges gave the victory to Bogachuk – 118-110, 117-111 and 117-111.

Sergey won the title of interim WBC champion. The new owner of the full WBC junior middleweight belt is Sebastian Fundora, who defeated Tim Tszyu. After the fight, the American’s promoter Sampson Levkovich said that the priority goal for his protégé is a rematch with Tszyu before meeting Terence Crawford or Errol Spence.

Bogachuk, in turn, became the mandatory challenger according to the WBC for a fight with Fundora for two championship belts in junior middleweight. Sebastian has a choice – another official challenger from the WBO, former absolute champion in two weight categories Terence Crawford.
