Athletistic/MMA. Third number in the UFC lightweight rankings, American mixed martial arts fighter Dustin Poirier believes he is capable of defeating Russian promotion champion Islam Makhachev. Their fight will take place on June 2 at UFC 302 in New Jersey (USA).

“Sometimes it seems to me that Makhachev does not respect me. But soon I will go to the octagon to hurt him. Islam says it will be an easy fight for him. Maybe he treats all fights this way. But I can eliminate any lightweight.

When I lost to Oliveira and they asked me about my future, I answered that I continued to believe in myself. If I want something, I will achieve it. And here I am again, I’m a contender for the belt again. However, I no longer think about what will happen next. Now my goal is to finish this story in style,” Poirier said on The MMA Hour.

Dustin Poirier knocked out Benoit Saint-Denis in his last fight, which took place on March 9 at UFC 299. He now has 30 wins and eight losses in MMA.

In his last fight, Islam Makhachev knocked out Australian Alexander Volkanovski in the first round on October 21, 2023 during the UFC 294 tournament in Abu Dhabi (UAE). In total, the Russian has won 25 victories with one defeat in MMA.
