The referee recorded a technical knockout in the eighth round
British heavyweight Daniel Dubois 21-2 (20 KO) defeated the Croatian by technical knockout Filip Hrgovic (17-1, 14 KOs) and won the title “interim” IBF champion.
The first rounds passed with a slight advantage for the Croatian boxer, but then Daniel evened out the fight. The Briton was more accurate in his punches, and gradually it began to bring results.
The seventh round took place under the total dominance of Dubois. In the eighth round, the referee paused the fight, moving Hrgovic to his corner. After examination, the doctor decided not to continue the fight due to the cut on the Croatian’s head.
Let us remind you that the International Boxing Federation (IBF) officially assigned the fight between Hrgovic and Dubois the status of a fight for the interim IBF title. Ukrainian Alexander Usik holds the full championship title and plans to prepare for a rematch with Tyson Fury.
Dubois picked up his second win since losing to Usyk in August 2023. Hrgovic, 31, lost for the first time in his career.
