On June 1, the very first festival “Moscow Mayor’s Aikido Cup” took place in the capital of our country.
The event was organized by the Moscow Aikido Federation with the support of the National Aikido Council of Russia, the Russian Union of Martial Arts, the Aikido Federation of Aikido of Russia and the Department of Moscow sports.
The project was implemented using funds from grants from the Mayor of Moscow.
More than 300 people from more than 30 Moscow clubs took part in the Festival.
The festival included master classes by great aikido masters, demonstration programs by teams – members of the Moscow Aikido Federation and other aikido clubs, competitions in various styles of aikido, as well as the presentation of an award – the “Moscow Mayor’s Cup” in three categories: “For the popularization and active participation in the development of aikido in Moscow” – interregional aikido club “Oshinkan”; “Trainer of the Year” – instructor of the AIKIDOTEAM children’s aikido school Alexander Nikolaevich Kakotkin, 3rd dan Aikido Aikikai;
“Aikido Dynasty” – director of the AIKIDOCAMP camp Isaeva Olga Vladimirovna, her husband, director of the children’s school “AIKIDOTEAM”, Legchilin Alexey Valerievich, 5th dan of Aikido Aikikai, and their son candidate for the Master of Sports in Aikido, holder of 2nd dan Legchilin Alexander Alekseevich, daughter Legchilina Sofya Alekseevna owner, 3rd kyu Aikido Aikikai. The event took place on International Children’s Day, so the program included special master classes for children. “We thank the Presidential Grants Foundation for its trust and wanted to make the Moscow Mayor’s Aikido Cup a real celebration for Muscovites and guests of the capital. The Festival program provided for the participation of people of different age categories, so we invited everyone. I hope that this format will become an annual event and we, in turn, will try to make it as interesting and in demand as possible. See you next time!” – said the president of the Moscow Aikido Federation Evgeny Malyshev.
