Both athletes showed the same weight
Former world light heavyweight champion Alexander Gvozdyk and holder of the “interim” WBC super middleweight title David Benavidez held a weighing ceremony.
Both boxers met the limit, showing the same weight – 174.2 lbs (79.01 kg).
The fight between Gvozdyk and Benavidez for the vacant WBC interim light heavyweight title will take place on the night of June 15-16, approximately at 5:00 Kyiv time.
The event will be hosted by Las Vegas, with a boxing evening scheduled at the Grand Garden Arena. The fight between Alexander and David will take place on the undercard of the confrontation between WBA champion Gervonta Davis and Frank Martin.
Benavidez, 27, fought his last fight in November 2023. David defeated Demetrius Andrade, who refused to continue the fight after the sixth round. David spent his last few fights in the super middleweight division (up to 168 pounds or 76.2 kg). For the fight with Gvozdyk, he moves up to the light heavyweight category (up to 175 pounds or 79.4 kg).
Gvozdyk knocked out Brazilian boxer Isaac Rodriguez in his last fight. This is Alexander’s third victory after resuming his career. Before this, the Ukrainian knocked out Latvian boxer Richards Bolotniks in the 6th round.
