President of the Russian Wrestling Federation (FSBR) Mikhail Mamiashvili told that the organization’s executive committee unanimously supported Russian athletes who expressed a desire to participate in the Olympic Games in France.
Earlier, Mamiashvili told that Russian athletes must sign a protocol agreeing to participate in the 2024 Olympics with a neutral status, but this does not imply automatic participation in the Paris Games.
— The Executive Committee of the Russian Wrestling Federation unanimously supported our wrestlers who expressed the desire to participate in the Olympic Games in France. Then we will look at the situation, June 20 is the deadline,” Mamiashvili told .
The IOC announced on its official website on Saturday the names of fourteen Russian athletes who, as of June 15, received neutral status to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Among them are ten representatives of the struggle: Nachyn Mongush, Shamil Mamedov, Arslan Bagaev, Abdulla Kurbanov, Alan Ostaev, Magomed Murtazaliev, Natalya Malysheva, Veronika Chumikova, Alina Kasabieva and Elizaveta Petlyakova.
In December 2023, the IOC announced that it would allow Russian athletes who successfully qualified for the 2024 Olympics to have individual neutral status without a flag, anthem or other national symbol. The IOC also banned the participation of athletes associated with security forces or who have expressed support for the SVO.
The Paris Olympic Games will be held from July 26 to August 11.
