On June 23, in the republic, a group of armed militants fired on a church and a synagogue, killing a priest, and also attacked a traffic police station.
“Some people, under the guise of faith, use Islam for personal gain, which is against the true tenets of the religion. The events in Dagestan have become a tragedy that has nothing to do with the true Islamic faith. No Islamic scholar would approve of such acts and all Islamic experts condemn them. Attacking churches is also forbidden in Islam,” Habib said.
