Glukhov, MMA fighter, on obtaining a Russian passport: “An exciting and joyful moment. I always wanted to live in Russia”

World Champion Kickboxer and MMA Fighter Konstantin Glukhov told that he was very happy to receive a Russian passport, because he had been waiting for this moment for a long time.

On Friday, Glukhov, who renounced Latvian citizenship, received a Russian passport at the Migration Department of the Main Directorate of the Interior Ministry in Moscow. As the athlete himself clarifies, he became the first to receive citizenship under the new federal repatriation program. Previously, Glukhov repeatedly performed at Russian tournaments and held main fights in the M-1 and Fight Nights promotions.

— An exciting and joyful moment, finally a long way has been covered. I have wanted to do this for ten years, there were difficulties, but now I am happy. I always wanted to live in my native country, in Russia, to be a citizen.

— Do your wife and daughter already have citizenship?

– Yes of course. Now our entire family is Russian citizen.

When the process began last year, many people responded. I would like to express special gratitude to MP Andrei Medvedev, who got involved and highlighted this problem. Irina Volk and Elena Kazakova spoke to me directly and helped me. Since I am an athlete, Telegram channels and sports media talked about it. They made a big deal, but I still got a year and a half, not a day. “Thank you everyone, I’m very happy,” Glukhov told .

In addition to his kickboxing career, Glukhov, 44, has competed in 52 professional MMA fights (35 wins and 17 losses). Konstantin fought with Alexander Emelianenko, Vladimir Mineev and Kenny Garner.
