The 37-year-old defender made a worthy debut in a new sport for him
Ex-footballer Manchester United And Lester2016 Premier League champion Danny Simpson made his boxing debut. He went four rounds against his namesake, blogger Danny Aarons, on X Series 017.
Simpson boldly put his Premier League title on the line. He dominated his opponent in the first half of the fight, but 22-year-old Aarons took the last two rounds. In the end, the judges were unable to determine the winner – 38-38, 39-37 (Aarons) and 39-37 (Simpson). The rivals said they would not be against arranging a rematch in the future.
Simpson, 37, is a Manchester United product who spent many years at the Red Devils but regularly played on loan. After joining Leicester, Danny enjoyed a productive spell with the Foxes (2014-2019), becoming an important part of the legendary 2015/16 title-winning season.
The right-back has been without a club since March 2022, signing for Macclesfield last season but ending his football career for good this summer.
