Alexander reported that according to the contract, a rematch against Tyson Fury should take place before December 31
Ukrainian boxer, current WBO/WBA/IBO/WBC heavyweight title holder Alexander Usyk (22-0, 14 KO) spoke about preparations for a rematch against the former WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs).
“Next we go to the training camp. I learned a lot about him (Fury, – ed.) from the last fight. A lot of the things I saw in the fight – I didn’t see them on TV. We will prepare even better and, God willing, we will show our form again.”
“I’m not worried that Tyson will try to get out of the fight. Because we can already play on our side and with our ball. I have a contract, he has a contract – we must hold this fight by December 31 inclusive. I really like the fact that we are preparing for December 21. A good date, a good month. If he doesn’t box on December 21, he will lose dividends, money. And he will also lose his manly word.”
“We will do everything in training camp to see the best version of Oleksandr Usyk.
Something unexpected for Fury? We are preparing sweets, cakes, everything for our friend. We will treat him with delicious cakes and delicious hugs.”
“I have incredible motivation. I am motivated by my team, my family, my faith in God, my country, my wife, my children. What is around me, what grows with me, what I love – all this motivates me. I fear nothing except the Lord God. And I fear Him – because I love Him.”
“Negative predictions from Fury’s team and Turki Al Al-Sheikh? I want to say to all these people – I am very grateful to you for this motivation, very grateful that you support your athlete. Very grateful that thanks to what you do – I become stronger. Thank you very much.”
On the night of May 19, Usyk inflicted Tyson’s first defeat in his professional career in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by a split decision of the judges: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.
Oleksandr is the second boxer in history after Evander Holyfield, who was the absolute world champion in cruiserweight and heavyweight. Also, the Ukrainian boxer became the third (after Terence Crawford and Naoya Inoue) in the era of four prestigious titles absolute champion in two weight categories.
Usyk subsequently issued a statement in which he announced that he would give the IBF belt to the winner of the British derby between his two former opponents in the ring – Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua.. Thus, Alexander lost his status as the absolute world champion in heavyweight.
Usyk and Fury have reached an agreement for a rematch. The “Gypsy King” has officially activated the rematch option. The second fight between Alexander and Tyson will take place in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) on December 21. WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said he would seek to introduce video replays in this fight.
