Derek believes there is a lack of connection between Tyson and the coaching staff
British heavyweight Derek Chisora (35-13, 23 KO) commented on the upcoming second fight between the former WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KO) and the holder of the WBO/WBA/IBO/WBC belts in the heavyweight division Alexander Usik (22-0, 14 KOs).
Chisora also spoke about the work of the “Gypsy King” corner in the first fight. According to Derek, Tyson’s coaching staff did not communicate with the boxer himself during the fight.
“I think Usyk will stop Fury this time. Tyson’s relationship with Sugarhill Steward is dying. The thing is, when they were together before, they listened to each other.”
“During the Usyk fight, everyone in Tyson’s corner was in a complete panic. It wasn’t just a lot of voices, they were all panicking. They knew they were losing the fight, so they knew they had to start saying something because Tyson wasn’t listening to Sugarhill and he wasn’t listening to his dad.”
According to many fans, boxers and experts, the behavior of Tyson’s father, John Fury, in the first confrontation with Alexander Usyk was distracting for the Briton.
Former super middleweight champion Carl Froch believes that the tips given by Fury Sr. went against the advice of the boxer’s coach Sugarhill Steward. Ricky Hatton shares a similar opinion.
On the night of May 19, Usyk inflicted Tyson’s first defeat in his professional career in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by a split decision of the judges: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.
Usyk subsequently issued a statement in which he announced that he would give the IBF belt to the winner of the British derby between his two former opponents in the ring – Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua.. Thus, Alexander lost the status of absolute world champion in heavyweight, which he held for more than a month.
Usyk and Fury have reached an agreement for a rematch. The “Gypsy King” has officially activated the rematch option. The second fight between Alexander and Tyson will take place in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) on December 21. WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said he would seek to introduce video replays in this fight.
