Former UFC champion Oleg Taktarov rated the victory Merab Dvalishvili vs. Sean O’Malley – the bantamweight title fight took place on the night of September 15 as part of the UFC 306 tournament.
The fight lasted all five rounds and ended with Dvalishvili winning by unanimous decision, thanks to which he became the new owner of the UFC bantamweight championship belt.
“I don’t think Merab will stay among the champions for long. He is already 33 years old. There is no punching, no groundwork. There is good defense and a great desire. But this is only for once, when you win the belt. It seems to me that he will not want to protect it constantly. Endurance alone is not enough. At 34, this will end. He will most likely lose the next fight,” Taktarov was quoted as saying by Soviet Sport.
Dvalishvili has 18 wins and four losses in mixed martial arts.
