Boxer Shumkov: “If I were Alvarez, I would first meet Benavidez, then I would think about the winner of the Bivol-Beterbiev fight”

European Boxing Champion Vsevolod Shumkov told that if he were Mexican Saul Alvarez, he would fight American David Benavidez, and then think about the winner of the fight between Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev.

Alvarez defended his WBA, WBO and WBC super middleweight championships last week in a fight against American Edgar Berlanga, winning by unanimous decision. Benavidez is the interim WBC light heavyweight champion.

— The fight between Canelo and Berlanga ended as expected. As I said, it was a passing fight for Saul, even if there was no big KO.

“We don’t know Alvarez’s future plans. But if I were him, I would fight Benavidez first, and then I would fight the winner of the Beterbiev-Bivol pair to become the absolute world champion again,” Shumkov told .

The fight between Bivol and Beterbiev for the absolute light heavyweight world title is scheduled for October 12 in Saudi Arabia.
