The fight between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois will take place on the night of September 21-22
Holder of WBC, IBO, WBA and WBO heavyweight belts Alexander Usik arrived in London with his team for the fight between the former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KO) and the IBF belt holder Daniel Dubois (21-2, 20 KO).
It was previously reported that Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury will be ringside at the Joshua-Dubois fight.
The Dubois-Joshua fight will take place on the night of September 21-22. The arena for the event will be London’s Wembley Stadium. There, Dubois will defend his IBF heavyweight title, which he received after Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk renounced the belt.
The fight will be the headliner of a big night of boxing. The undercard will feature fights such as Tyler Denny vs. Hamza Shiraz, Anthony Cacace vs. Josh Warrington, Liam Smith vs. Josh Kelly, Joshua Buatsi vs. Willie Hutchinson and Mark Chamberlain vs. Josh Pudley.
Oleksandr Usyk left Ukraine this week, heading to Valencia to prepare for his rematch with Tyson Fury.
In Krakow, from whose airport Usyk departed for Valencia, the Ukrainian found himself at the epicenter of a scandalous story, where he was first detained by Polish law enforcement officers, but soon released.
Let us recall that on the night of May 19, Usyk inflicted the first defeat of his professional career on Tyson Fury in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by a split decision of the judges: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.
Usyk and Fury have reached an agreement for a rematch. The “Gypsy King” has officially activated the rematch option. The second fight between Alexander and Tyson will take place on December 21, 2024, in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said he would seek the introduction of video replays in this fight.
