After the loss, Josh left his gloves on the canvas of the ring.
IBF and IBO super featherweight champion Anthony Cacace (23-1, 8 KOs) defeated former featherweight champion Josh Warrington (31-4-1, 8 KOs) as part of a big evening of boxing at Wembley Stadium in London.
The Cacace-Warrington fight went the full eight round distance. The judges gave the victory to Cacace by unanimous decision – 118-110, 117-111, 117-111.
It should be noted that only the IBO title was at stake in the fight. The IBF did not allow Cacace to hold a title fight with Warrington. At the same time, in the event of Anthony’s defeat, the IBF belt would become vacant.
Cacace must next defend his IBF title against mandatory challenger Eduardo Nunez (27-1, 27 KOs) by March 20, 2025.
Warrington, after his defeat by Cacace, left his gloves in the ring. The 33-year-old Briton has probably ended his professional career.
In the main event of the evening at Wembley, Daniel Dubois will defend his IBF heavyweight title against former world champion Anthony Joshua. The fight will start no earlier than 00:00 Kyiv time.
