Usyk: I’m not shocked because it’s boxing. Dubois was better than Joshua

Usyk and Fury were ringside during the fight between Dubois and Joshua

WBC, IBO, WBA and WBO heavyweight champion, Ukrainian boxer Alexander Usik (22-0, 14 KO) commented on the victory of the IBF heavyweight belt holder Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KO) over the former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KO) .

“I’m not shocked because it’s boxing. Daniel Dubois was better than Joshua today. You know, Anthony has one problem – he slips away dangerously. If you want to slip away, you have to do it the wrong way, because he does it dangerously, which is what we saw.”

“I don’t think about what they’re going to do next. I don’t know. I don’t know what’s going to happen after I beat Tyson Fury for the second time. I want to relax with my family, with my kids. I want to go to the mountains and ski.”

During the fight, Anthony Joshua was knocked down three times, and in the fifth round, Dubois knocked AJ out, inflicting his fourth defeat in the professional ring.

Among the guests of honor at the fight between Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua were WBC, IBO, WBA and WBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and former WBC champion Tyson Fury – both boxers were near the ring during the fight.

Oleksandr Usyk left Ukraine this week and will set up his training camp in Valencia to prepare for his rematch with Tyson Fury.

Let us recall that on the night of May 19, Usyk inflicted the first defeat of his professional career on Tyson Fury in a fight that took place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). The victory was awarded to the Ukrainian by a split decision of the judges: 115-112, 113-114 and 114-113.

Usyk and Fury have reached an agreement for a rematch. The “Gypsy King” has officially activated the rematch option. The second fight between Alexander and Tyson will take place on December 21, 2024, in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman said he would seek the introduction of video replays in this fight.
