Daniel knocks out Anthony Joshua to retain IBF title
IBF Heavyweight Title Holder Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) said he wants a rematch with the WBC, IBO, WBA and WBO world champion Alexander Usik (22-0, 14 KOs).
“I want to get my revenge and correct the injustice,” the Briton said.
Usyk defeated Dubois by knockout in August 2023. After the fight, the Briton said that he deserved the victory, having sent Alexander to the platform earlier, but the referee recorded a blow below the belt in that episode.
Dubois defeated former world champion Anthony Joshua in his last fight. Daniel knocked AJ down three times and knocked out his opponent in the fifth round. Dubois defended the IBF title, which he received after Usyk relinquished it.
After the Joshua-Dubois fight, Usyk’s promoter Alexander Krasyuk said that a rematch with Daniel for the absolute champion title was entirely possible. Krasyuk noted that after the first fight “certain questions remained.”
