Hearn: If Joshua decides, rematch with Dubois will happen 100%

Promoter and team will discuss the best plan for the Briton’s next fight

Eddie Hearnpromoter of former world champion Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs), said that his ward wants to immediately have a rematch with the IBF world heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs).

“Listen, if AJ decides, then the rematch will absolutely happen. He says, “Let me fight him. I know I can beat him.” But we will talk internally as a team and advise Joshua to do what we think is best. I think we are leaning towards immediate revenge. I think it will be difficult to convince AJ otherwise.”

“Negotiations began a few days after the fight. Next week we will meet His Excellency in Riyadh. We will give our opinion to AJ and he will make the final decision. It will be very difficult for him not to try to beat Daniel Dubois.”

Dubois defeated Joshua in a fight that took place in London on Saturday, September 21. Daniel knocked down AJ three times and knocked out his opponent in the fifth round. Dubois defended the IBF title, which he received after Oleksandr Usyk abandoned it.

The Joshua-Dubois fight set a new record for the largest number of spectators in the 21st century for a boxing match. The boxing evening at Wembley Stadium in London was attended by 98,128 people.

AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn said that the fight contract included a rematch option. However, Bob Arum denied this statement, calling it “fiction.” Dubois coach Don Charles believes his player should prepare thoroughly for any upcoming opponent.
