Martin’s potential opponent is Chinese Zhang Zhilei
Promoter Ben Shalom said that his protégé, winner of the championship belt WBO International Martin Bakole (21-1, 16 KOs), expects to fight next on the undercard of the second fight between the former WBC heavyweight title holder Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) and WBC, IBO, WBA and WBO heavyweight champion Alexander Usik (22-0, 14 KOs).
“Hopefully there will be a big fight in December which we will announce soon. “I hope this happens on the undercard of the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia on December 21.”
“I don’t want to say too much about the opponent, we’ll see what happens. It’s been a whirlwind for Martin. We had to be patient. For me, he is the most dangerous man in the division. He’s the guy no one wants to fight.”
“Thank God, the fight with Anderson took place. It was a victory on the big stage. We knew what was coming, but he announced himself to the world that evening. I believe he can beat anyone in the division.”
It was previously reported that Bakole’s next opponent could be Chinese heavyweight Zhang Zhilei. The fight was planned to take place in December in China as part of the Riyadh Season Card. Martin himself stated that he would like to fight someone from the top 10, including Zhilei.
Let us remember that on the night of August 4 in Los Angeles, Bakole (21-1, 16 KOs) won an early victory over Jared Anderson, inflicting the American his first defeat in his professional career. Thanks to this success, Martin rose to the top 10 rankings in the heavyweight category according to the authoritative magazine The Ring.
