Russian MMA fighter Vladimir Minev told that the boxer Artur Beterbiev deserved victory based on the results of the fight with Dmitri Bivol while the battle itself was completely even.
The fight for the title of absolute world light heavyweight champion took place on October 12 in Riyadh; Beterbiev, 39, won by majority decision. Former WBA and IBO light heavyweight champion Bivol’s manager Vadim Kornilov said the Russian boxing team had submitted a request for a rematch with Beterbiev. Information about the filing of a rematch request was confirmed by lawyer Patrick English, who represents the interests of Bivol.
— What is your opinion on the Beterbiev-Bivol fight?
– Both are worthy boxers, Arthur deserves to win. I heard opinions that Dmitry was robbed a little. You know, everything looks different on TV, but the judges were in the room, they made that decision. There is a procedure for contesting the decision, which probably could have been used in the event of blatant theft.
I think the fight was even. If they had given a draw, it would have been an ideal solution, but, most likely, the regulations did not allow it,” Mineev told .
Beterbiev won 21 victories (20 by knockout) in the professional ring, Bivol had 23 victories and one defeat.
