Shlemenko: “On December 14, I am fighting, my fight will take place. I don’t know if the Tokov fight will happen.

Russian fighter Alexander Shlemenko told that his fight at the RCC tournament will take place on December 14, but he does not yet know if it will be a fight against Anatoly Tokov.

Earlier, the Russian league RCC announced its intention to organize a fight between former Bellator middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko and former contender for the same title Anatoly Tokov. On Thursday, RCC President Nikolai Klimenko said the athletes had received contracts for the fight.

In 2018, at the Bellator tournament in New York, Tokov defeated Shlemenko by unanimous decision.

— The RCC promotion announced that it has sent fight contracts to you and Anatoly Tokov. Does this mean that your conflict with Anatoly is now a definitively settled issue?

— It’s difficult to say at the moment, because I’m not the only one to decide this question. I’ve had better offers from RCC than this one. But unfortunately, for various reasons, they have taken a back seat.

— Ultimately, what determines whether or not you sign a contract for a fight with Tokov?

— I have good relations with the RCC organization, good relations with Igor Alekseevich Altushkin. And personally, the RCC organization promised me a fight on December 14 at the beginning of the year, when we discussed my two performances this year. So my fight will take place anyway. I don’t know if the Anatoly Tokov fight will happen. That’s why I don’t expect anything, I don’t care at all. I have an agreement and a date. December 14th I’m struggling and I wish there was someone with me who was interested and not just saying they want money.

— If Anatoly Tokov now writes on social networks: “Alexander Shlemenko, stop being afraid, let’s fight this fight”, will this be his right approach?

– This will amuse me. What should I be afraid of? That they will keep me close to the net, safe behind my back? I just want to hear one person say they need it. To answer the question: “Anatoly, do you need this?” he didn’t answer: “Well, I don’t know, I don’t care as much as I used to.” I want one person to say: ‘I’m interested,’ Shlemenko told .
