The Supreme Court of Ukraine supported the position of the Boxing Federation
Former head Boxing Federation of Ukraine Vladimir Prodivus finally lost his position as president of the FBU.
The Supreme Court of Ukraine sided with the Federation in the case with Prodivus. The Supreme Court overturned previous decisions of the Economic Court of Kyiv and the Northern Economic Court of Appeal, which partially satisfied Prodivus’ demands for changes in the organization’s register with the appointment of a new president, Kirill Shevchenko.
The Supreme Court also refused to transfer the case to the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court. The court’s decision is final and cannot be appealed. The Supreme Court ruling came into force upon its adoption on October 23, 2024.
Let us remind you that Shevchenko was elected president of the FBU in February 2022 at an extraordinary reporting and election conference. The functionary was supported by representatives of 17 regional federations. The previous head of the FBU, Vladimir Prodivus, opposed this decision. The functionary filed a lawsuit and got the state registrar’s decision to include Shevchenko in the register as head of the federation overturned.
Subsequently, Prodivus announced his resignation as head of the FBU. In August 2023, Shevchenko was reinstated as President of the Federation.
Shevchenko left his position in February 2024. Oleg Ilchenko became acting president. In June, at an extraordinary conference of the Boxing Federation of Ukraine in Zhitomir, Ilchenko was officially elected president of the FBU.
In May 2022, Prodivus joined the IBA Board of Directors. Russian Umar Kremlev was re-elected President of the International Boxing Association. Let us remind you that the International Olympic Committee has withdrawn recognition of the IBA. It is expected that the new international federation that will receive IOC recognition and keep boxing at the Olympics will be World Boxing.
